Chennai: Indian software company HCL technologies through its electro magnetic compatibility (EMC) and durability test lab expects to attract the compliance and environmental certification services. The company will aim manufacturing organizations that are looking to enhance their time to market and ensure that their products follow the global certification standards. The lab started its operation in August and has received the ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation from National Board for Accreditation of Testing and Calibration Laboratories, India (NABL). The company is already working with 15-20 clients on various sectors like auto, computer peripherals and medical devices. The test will help to estimate the efficiency of a product before it goes to market. According to the company officials this is the first private sector lab in India, which will offer EMI (electro magnetic interference) /EMC (electro magnetic compatibility) and durability testing services. "With more multi-national companies setting up their operations, the time-to-market factor has become crucial. Testing here can reduce the lead time for new product introduction by at least 12-15 weeks," said GH Rao, Corporate Vice-President, Engineering and R&D services, HCL.
