HCL Infosystems posts robust profit

Noida: India's leading IT hardware and systems integration firm HCL Infosystems Ltd Monday announced net profit of 814.1 million ($20.69 million) for the quarter ending Dec 2007, an increase of seven percent from the same period last year. The company reported consolidated revenues of 33.06 billion ($840 million) during the period, an increase of 11 percent from 29.68 billion in the third quarter of 2006-07. "Our system integration business gained further traction with a stream of new orders and project wins, while digital lifestyle products business rode the festival season to deliver impressive numbers," Ajai Chowdhry, chairman and CEO, HCL Infosystems, told a press conference here. On standalone basis, the firm disclosed a significant leap in its net profit for the quarter during which it recorded profit to 831.90 million, from 347.60 million in the quarter ended Dec 2006. Its net sales for the quarter surged to 32.60 billion compared to 6.09 million in the same quarter previous year. During the period the firm's total income zoomed to 32.77 billion, an increase of about 426.67 percent at 6.22 million during the corresponding quarter last year. During the third quarter from Oct-Dec, HCL Infosystems also expanded its IT training and education business of HCL Career Development Centers to more than 46 locations across India.
