Google's Startup Work Culture The Secret To Its Success


When asked about Google’s plans of expanding cloud-based devices such as Chromebooks in a country where broadband penetration is not yet up to the mark, he said; it was more about providing  businesses with secure and intuitive technology that can be accessed from anywhere at any time. He believes the benefits of deploying Chrome devices in place of traditional computers far outweigh the cons, as this can dramatically reduce a company’s operating costs by “streamlining deployment, centralizing management, mitigating security risks, and reducing support incidents.”

The VP is not concerned about Google’s Chrome based devices losing out to cheaper computers. According to him, the Chrome OS’s super-fast start-up and shutdown times, combined with the added benefits that come with having all the data on cloud, such as not having to worry about data loss will appeal to the start-ups. And the figures do back him up, the tech giant’s various products such as Google sites, hangouts, storage and cloud services have about 5 million sign-ups till date, with about 5,000 new businesses signing-up every day.

Amit Singh said the company will establish data centers in Indian as and when needed. Currently, the company has a policy of allocating three such centers for a region based upon the traffic, while taking into consideration the region’s susceptibility to earthquakes and Tsunamis. Google recently announced its new data centers in Singapore and Taiwan.
