Google says may acquire Riya

NEW DELHI:If the international buzzwords are to be believed, Google, the largest search engine in the world will acquire Riya, a startup company founded by Munjal Shah. Riya is an online photo service based in California that has a cool technology to recognize human faces and tags it with names. The company uses artificial intelligence and face recognition technology and is one up over Flickr, which is a simple photo sharing service, bought over by Yahoo! Recently. Google may possibly acquire the company for $40 million, it is learnt. Google is interested in Riya, which was launched officially last week, because it will give it a much needed edge over Yahoo!. It is said, Google has been eyeing Riya even when the technology was at testing stage.
