Global IT spending to touch $3.6 Trillion in 2011
New Delhi: IT spending worldwide is projected to touch $3.6 trillion this year, much higher than in 2010, says Gartner. The higher spending is expected to be bolstered by media tablets such as iPad. "Worldwide IT spending is forecast to total $3.6 trillion in 2011, a 5.6 percent increase from $3.4 trillion in 2010," global research group Gartner said. The outlook has been revised higher from earlier growth projection of 5.1 percent. The inclusion of expenses on media tablets has increased this year's computing hardware growth outlook to 9.5 percent from 7.5 percent. "Worldwide media tablet spending is projected to reach $29.4 billion in 2011, up from $9.6 billion in 2010," Gartner said. Globally, spending on media tablets is expected to rise at an annual average rate of 52 percent through 2015.
