KOLKATA: Gecis, a business process services company, will invest Rs 50 crore over a two year period to set up its fifth business process outsourcing (BPO) facility in the Eletronics Complex here. The new facility, on a built-up area of 1,00,000 sq ft to be constructed on a three-acre land, would be operational by the second quarter of 2006. ''We are going to employ 1500 people in the center. The facility will deal with the high-end specialized services including analytics, finance and accounting and software solutions as well as voice and transaction based processes,'' Gecis Global president and CEO Pramod Bhasin said here today. ''We are going to hire high-end doctorates and masters for the research based jobs,'' Bhasin said. Gecis, mainly catering to GE's business units worldwide, operates from its centers in Gurgaon, Jaipur, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Gecis also has operations centers in China, Hungary, Mexico, North America and Western Europe. ''We are also interested to collaborate with the state government and the state's universities and educational institutions for offering value-based education in specialized subjects like risk analysis, financial analysis, GAAP accounting and others,'' he said. ''The academia-industry collaboration would prove to be beneficial for the growth of the already existing talent pool in state. We will be shortly identifying the institutes with whom tie-ups will be made,'' he said.
