GTL to invest Rs 25 cr in new BPO center

MUMBAI: GTL, provider of e-business solutions, network engineering, enterprise business infrastructure and call center solutions, has announced the expansion of its BPO activities. The company will also merge some of its 100 percent subsidiaries. Also to make work more effective, the company plans to form an operating council for day-to-day business operations of the company. The board of directors of the company decided this in a meeting. GTL that provides customer acquisition, customer relationship management, back office management, and technical helpdesk services out of a 900 seater, dedicated facility in Navi Mumbai is planning another 500-seater, five storey, 30,000 sq ft area BPO facility that would be functional by December 2003 and would be located in Pune. The new facility would be located in Pune. The company is planning to employ 750 people in this call center by Q2 2004-2005. The company has earmarked Rs 25 crore for the first phase of infrastructure, hardware, software and technology for this center. When fully operational, Pune center will handle back office voice as well as non voice business for the company's existing and new clients in the US and UK. The Pune Center and GTL's existing facility at Navi Mumbai are to be linked such that the company will be in a position to offer Data Security and Disaster Recovery to its clients serviced from either location.
