From Corporate Biggies to Entertainers to Sports Personalities: Meet The Fresh Faces In LS Polls 2014

Gul Panag: Former Miss India and actor Gul Panag who recently joined Aam Aadmi Party will be contesting for Lok Sabha polls from Chandigarh, a place where she was born and describes as her home. She was declared as the AAP candidate by party’s senior leader Manish Sisodia. Panag is the second celebrity fielded by the AAP after comedian Bhagwant Mann, who is party nominee from Sangrur Lok Sabha seat.

She also described herself as a city girl to downplay the claims that she is a paratrooper selected by the AAP as she has no longer association with the city and lives in Mumbai.
“My roots are in Chandigarh. It’s been my family’s home since my grandfather Colonel Shamsher Singh settled here in 1965. It’s where I grew up, studied and it’s where my family lives. “I am delighted to be able to have an opportunity to contribute so directly to the welfare of my people and the country,” she said.

V Balakrishnan: Infosys’ former Chief Financial Officer, V Balakrishnan who had joined the Aam Aadmi Party earlier this year is set to take on the sitting MP from the BJP, P C Mohan from Bangalore Central Lok Sabha constituency. "AAP is the most successful start-up by an IIT-ian ever," has turned out to be his famous quote about the newly formed political party. This former corporate honcho is handling some sensible responsibilities for AAP by providing his inputs on the party's economic policy.
"Politics is no rocket science. If people are good, anyone can join politics. In fact, the middle class is very apprehensive about politics, we need that to change and see more of them participate," added Balakrishnan.
