Fourth annual Asian American Cultural Festival of Long Island

New York: Farming Dale College has hosted the fourth annual Asian American cultural festival of Long Island. The festival which took place at the Roosevelt Hall has received the appreciation of many for featuring different cultures. Natives of different Asian countries present cultural exhibition, art, interactive shows and live performances at the festival. The festival has been called a visual extravaganza for its colorful costumes and displays, and traditionally attracts more than 3,000 attendants from the Asian and non-Asian communities on Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan and beyond. Young and old alike enjoy lion dance, craft demonstrations, puppet shows, multicultural performances, a fashion show and cultural exhibits from various countries specifically Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, China, India and Korea. Participants also enjoyed the corporate displays and vendor tables, an Asian market, and food sampling. Award ceremony, VIP reception with food of many nations for awardees, stage performance by noted Asian artists were also organized in connection with the festival. George Hu, Asian Community Affairs Liaison, New York State Governor's Office; Dr. W. Hubert Keen, President of Farmingdale State College; Misao Nishikawa, PhD, Research Scientist at the Chiari Institute, North Shore-LIJ Health System; Yoon Sook Park, Traditional Korean Musical Artist; Rhodora Ursua, Project Director at New York University Center for the Study of Asian-American Health; Justin Yu, President, Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of New York and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and Neeta Bhasin, President/CEO at ASB Communications were the award winners.
