Bangalore: Firefox 9 debuted its Beta version last month and the newest version of the browser doesn’t claim to make any obvious changes. What will change, though, is the number of upgrade-related pop-ups on the browser.

Firefox 9 had significant improvements made, especially since it was designed with tablets, PCs, and Smartphones. It also implemented a Typed Interface which improved JavaScript performance, and supported more application toolbars. The improved browser was even declared the winner (on the Windows 7 OS) in a slew of performance tests run by Tom’s Hardware for a “Grand Prix” of browsers.

The final beta version of Firefox 10 (the latest version of the browser) was released on January 27, and according to Mozilla’s meeting notes (published by the Business Insider), the browser will be made available to all Firefox users on Wednesday (IST).

With this version, add-ons (which were first introduced in Firefox 4 last year) will be compatible by default with Firefox 10. Since Firefox 4, add-ons ( such as themes) automatically switched off when one upgraded to the next version. Mozilla has changed that though, and this version will have them running in the background. This also means users will not have to face pop-ups when they switch to a newer version of the browser.
