Chandigarh: Patients here will soon be able to get appointments with doctors at crowded government hospitals without getting into long queues as appointment slips will be provided by e-governance centres across the city, officials said Tuesday. From Aug 1, patients will get appointments with doctors at the Government Multi Specialty Hospital in Sector 16 and Government Medical Hospital in Sector 32 at Jan Sampark and Gram Sampark centres. A government spokesperson said Tuesday that initially only prior appointments with doctors will be provided. Later, the hospitals will be connected online with the city's data centre and even registration of patients will be done at the e-governance centres. Chandigarh has a dozen e-governance centres, including one in a village, which provide several people-friendly services for residents. These facilities include the sale of stamp papers, depositing electricity and mobile bills, and getting birth certificates and bus passes. Patients who are given appointments in these hospitals through the e-governance centres will be provided printed receipts at a nominal cost of 2.
