HYDERABAD: ExlService has stepped up its hiring plans to add at least 1,500 employees by this December-end to support its expansion programme. The recruitment is being done largely for the company's fourth Indian facility that is coming up in Pune. With 2,800 employees across three centres in Noida, Exl Service offers BPO services for US and UK clients in verticals that include insurance, banking and financial services, travel, transportation, tourism, manufacturing and retail. However, the key focus areas for the company are insurance, banking and financial services and high-end customer support. Deepak Dhawan, vice-president-human resources at EXLService told Economic Times, a business daily in India, that the first phase of Pune facility would become operational by mid-December this year. The Pune facility will be EXL's fourth facility and its first outside Delhi. Dhawan said more than 500 professionals are planned to be inducted in the first phase, while the company would add another 1,000 professionals in the second phase by May 2004. An estimated investment $6.5 million is expected to be made in two phases for the Pune facility which will have a 1,000-seater capacity. With the Pune facility, the operating capacity of EXL will be in excess of 7,500 seats on a three-shift basis. According to Dhawan, the Pune centre will provide back office and contact centre services to its clients.
