ECIL plans to tie up with Microsoft

KOCHI: The Rs 1,000 Crore Electronics Corporation of India proposed to tie-up with leading software developers and vendors like Microsoft for educational softwares. ECIL along with its IT division, ECIT, also had plans to tie-up with hardware suppliers, Vice President, V K Malik, was quoted as saying by a news agency. The company was planning to target 5000 educational institutions - schools, colleges and Polytechnics - in the current year whereby total IT solution comprising hardware, software, peripherals and educational deliveries are provided. It also had plans to establish IT education service in overseas countries. The company had already entered into an MOU for opening up of ECIT centres in three provinces of Northern China, he said. Tie-ups with companies and universities for high end courses were also on the cards, he told the news agency. ECIL-ECIT had bagged an order from the National Scheduled Caste Finance and Development Corporation for conducting IT education to 600 SC youths in eight states, Malik said. Karnataka government has also accorded permission for conducting IT education in Software and Hardware for 4000 unemployed SC youth, he said, adding that the government had also placed an order for training around 1000 SC youth in Long Term Software Course and training in DTP. In Kerala, ECIT had presently 42 centres and plans to add ten more this fiscal. Centres had been established in 11 schools and 25 schools were under active consideration, Malik said.
