So do we need bio-medical engineers, computer programmers, and scientists as much as musicians, artists, and psychologists to be entrepreneurs? Of course yes, but since liberal art deals with the intellectual capabilities unlike the professional and technical curriculum which emphasizes on a specialization, employment prospects are dim for an individual who has majored in it. Engineering gives a choice of jobs. On the other hand, Apple's brain child, Steve Jobs differs with Bill Gates stating that technology alone is not enough; it has to be a combination of technology with humanities to give profound results. Steve Jobs mentions Norio Ogha, the former President and Chairman of Sony Corporation known for his CD invention in the 80's who was also known for his passion as an Opera singer. Norio was also a pilot. Liberal art teaches an individual to think out of his comfort zone and to build a curious mind. Their open minds will constantly make them question themselves which will bring them different perspectives and new insights of a particular concept. "Part of what made the Macintosh great was that the people working on it were musicians, and poets, and artists, and zoologists, and historians who also happened to be the best computer scientists in the world," Jobs said.
Entrepreneurship demands one to undertake innovations,
On Steve Jobs note, is thinking more important than knowing? According to Aaron Koblin from Google, it is necessary for the next generation to explore both technology and liberal arts for a digital revolution. Aaron is a "data artist" who represents the creative mind that makes data visualization not only a technological innovation but an art. Being at Google does not restrain him from working on projects as amazing as the Johnny Cash Project or his recent Arcade Fire collaboration, which was nominated this year for a Grammy. Entrepreneurship demands one to undertake innovations, finance and business acumen in an effort to transform innovations into profit. One has to specialize in a particular domain so that they find the path to entrepreneurship. They can then come up with creative ways of solving the problems and apply their ideas to other fields where their knowledge adds value.
