Bangalore: Notwithstanding the global recession, SMB market is growing as fast as never before. And this pasture-new has turned a big cash cow for IT biggies. Targeting this segment, global IT player Dell has come out with two new laptops and desktops in its Vostro series. The computers are designed specifically to meet the needs of small businesses, governments and educational institutions operating on limited budgets in the world's emerging economies. Available through authorized channel partners, as well as direct from Dell in more than 20 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America, the new products include two pre-configured laptops (Vostro A860 and A840) and two desktops (Vostro A180 and Vostro A100). Additional Vostro products designed for emerging economies will be introduced in coming months. "A lot of new businesses are demanding the technology they need, at affordable prices. Today we answer that need by introducing new products that join our existing Vostro product line," said Steve Felice, president, Dell Asia-Pacific/Japan. The new laptops and desktops (priced between Rs 22,500 and Rs 22,900) are the first of Dell's products that will be available primarily through a Dell local solution provider, distributor or retailer. According to studies, there are more than 72 million small businesses worldwide, with 23.4 million - nearly one - third of the global total - located in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan). Latin America and EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) follow with 12.5 million and 11.9 million, respectively.
