Computer Law association conference on Feb 1-2

BANGALORE: The Computer Law Association (CLA), in association with Trade Fairs and Conferences International (TFCI) is organizing its first Asia conference in Bangalore on February 1st and 2nd 2005 at the Hotel Leela Palace. The conference, the first international conference in India dealing with law and information technology will feature some of the leading information technology lawyers of the world. The Computer Law Association is the largest association of computer lawyers in the world. India’s leading legal luminary, Mr Fali Nariman, President of the Bar Association of India and Member of Parliament is to deliver the keynote address at the conference. Stephen Mathias, partner of Kochhar & Co, Bangalore, is one of the co-chairs of the conference’s organizing committee. The conference will feature some of the most respected technology lawyers in the world and will be an ideal opportunity for India’s growing tech companies to meet with top legal brains. Though the conference will focus on outsourcing, it will also cover areas like intellectual property, financing, legalities of open source software, financing of tech companies and cyberspace issues. Speakers for the conference have been drawn from organizations like the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Business Software Alliance (BSA), major US universities, leading consulting firms like Ernst & Young and law firms from Europe, New York and Silicon Valley. As part of the conference, CLA is organizing a 6-week fellowship for a junior lawyer with at least 2 years experience to a European or US law firm. Applicants need to be employees of any delegate company that attends the conference. The conference will provide an exposure to Indian IT lawyers and software companies that has never been seen before in India.
