HYDERABAD: US-based CommVault Systems, provider of unified data management (UDM) solutions, has decided to make its Hyderabad development centre an important hub for products and software solutions of the US parent, apart from helping create intellectual property rights for its QiNetix suite of products. The US parent, worth over $600 million, is also looking at a substantial investment — multi-million dollars - over the next few years, while increasing its manpower to 60 from 10 in the next one year. Announcing the launch of the development centre at Hyderabad, KV Ratna Sarma, director and head of India operations, told The Financial Express that Hyderabad will become a strategic destination for the US parent. “It is an extension of the US parent in India,” Mr Sarma said. With the Hyderabad centre, the company will continue to build the Qinetix, best-of-breed products apart from creating IP around its UDM products. “We are committed to making Hyderabad a strategic and core development centre for the US parent,” Mr Sarma added. Funded by major venture capitalists and institutional investors such as Credit Suisse First Boston, Sprout, Van Wagoner Capital, EMC, the company will be making a substantial investment in Hyderabad in the next two to three years for setting up a support centre apart from testing lab, equipment and manpower. “We expect to invest a few million dollars over a period of time for setting up a technical support centre at Hyderabad apart from investing in testing lab, equipment and infrastructure,” Mr Sarma said. He, however, refused to disclose the exact amount as the company is seriously considering going for an IPO in the US. The technical support centre in Hyderabad will help service over 1,300 clients across the glob. The clients include AT&T, Toyata, Bank of New York, and Itachi Data Systems.
