Cognizant to invest $76 M in India

BANGALORE: US based IT services provider Cognizant Technology Solutions will invest $76 million this fiscal to create new infrastructure in Bangalore, Chennai, Pune and Kolkata. The company is also looking at hiking its head count in India. Announcing this, Cognizant CEO Lakshmi Narayanan said, "We have around 1000 people in Bangalore currently and when the new facility is completed next year, it can seat around 2250 professionals." To further expand in Bangalore, the company has acquired 10 acres of land in Electronic City. Narayanan said that Bangalore will be the Center of Excellence for advanced solutions using new technologies, Customer Relationship Management and IT infrastructure services. With a total staff of over 15,000, Cognizant is also looking at hiking its staff. At present Cognizant’s staff include 6,500 in Chennai, the rest are spread in Bangalore, Pune and Kolkata.
