Cisco celebrated dynamic women leadership

Bangalore: Cisco's internal Employee Resource Group hosted its 4th Annual Connected Women Leadership Forum (CWLF) at the Cisco Globalization Centre East in Bangalore on June 9, 2011. The theme of this year's event was "Celebrating Multidimensional Women" with special emphasis on leadership, career and community. Close to 400 women professionals from different companies and diverse backgrounds attended the event.
The all-day event provided attendees with diverse perspectives on topics such as traits of a resilient leader, power of networking, communicating with confidence, handling difficult conversations and conflicts, managing career and personal finance, and leveraging technology for inclusive growth.
Wim Elfrink, Executive Vice President and Chief Globalization Officer of Cisco, who delivered the keynote address said, "Cisco is creating a workplace that embraces a multitude of original minds and talents, and a range of generations, cultures and geographies. The Connected Women Leadership Forum is a celebration of our belief that a workforce of inclusion encourages creative thinking, generates ideas, fosters innovation and drives organizational productivity. We recognise the transformational role technology can play in countries and communities by empowering women and changing the way we work, live, play and learn."
Vinita Bali, Managing Director, Britannia Industries Limited, was also a keynote speaker at the event. The event included a panel discussion on 'Confluence of Skills,' chaired by senior Cisco and industry representatives including Priya Chetty-Rajagopal, Vice President & Partner, Stanton Chase International; Dr. Sunita Maheshwari, Doctor & Entrepreneur, RxDx Multispecialty Clinic; D Ashok, CEO of Gossamer Consultants (Executive Coach) and Faiyaz Shahpurwala, Senior Vice President, Cisco Services. Alka Manchanda, Director Engineering, Cisco moderated the discussion.
This was followed by sessions on 'Steps for Success' and 'Enabling Community via Technology' by Shubha Apte, Assistant Vice President, Thomson Reuters, Dinesh Gopalan, Director Finance, Fidelity India and Aravind Sitaraman, Vice President, Inclusive Growth, Cisco. The event concluded with a short play titled 'Just a Woman' by Laxmi Chandrashekar from Kriyative theatre.
