Children's Day celebration by Gujarat Samaj

Fremont:Children's Day celebration was organized by the Gujarati Samaj of New York on Nov 12 at its community hall in Flushing, NY. Students from various dance schools around Tristate area participated in the celebrations. Gopi Udeshi, Program Coordinator introduced Khandu Patel who was the chief guest of the day. New York City Councilman Peter Koo led the lamp-lighting ceremony to kick off the three hour long festivity. Koo was joined by Patel, trustees and executive board members.
The event had dance programs from different states from India- Dandia from Gujarat, Lavani from Maharashtra, Bhangra from Punjab, Kuchipudi from Andra Pradesh, Bharata Natyam from Tamil Nadu, bollywood fusion and lot of vocal music.
Seniors from Staten Island, NY presented a Qawwali and this was the highlight of the event.
