Car Of The Week: Mercedes-Benz A-Class

Bangalore: No matter what the car market has to offer, owning a three pointed star was always an Indian dream. Mercedes-Benz singlehandedly defined the term “luxury” to Indian roads long before Audis and BMWs. But in the last 5 years, the German manufacturer’s market share almost halved to 25 percent.

To open up a new flank in this fiercely competitive market, Mercedes-Benz is driving in their A Class, a luxury hatch which has been a global run-away success with over 90,000 bookings within months of launch.

However, unlike the European countries, India never favored the compact luxury segment till now. The new strategy by Mercedes-Benz in this niche market is well observed by automobile enthusiasts. With stunning looks, sheer desirability and the lowest ever price tag for a Mercedes, the A class is surely set to change the market.

Exterior:

The new A Class is simply “stunning” in design aspect. The car wears design of youthfulness. The grill with diamond shaped aluminium rings, flared headlamps, big air intakes and the centrally placed three pointed star makes the classy statement. The aesthetics continues to the rear with a perfectly aerodynamic design. The twin exhaust pipes, low roofline and 17 inch smoked alloy wheels add to the sportiness of A Class.

The car also gets a panoramic roof as a standard fitting.
