Capgemini to hire 8000 professionals in India
Bangalore: French IT services company, Capgemini announced that they will hire up to 8000 people for its delivery operations in India, reports Adith Charlie of Business Line. The company intends to have the Indian work force account for 50 percent of its overall employee base in the next two to three years. The company also reported that, as on March 31, 2011, the company already made total headcount worldwide is 1, 12,127, of which India accounts for 33,510.

Aruna Jayanthi, the CEO of Capgemini India, is the first lady CEO to head operations of a software services company in India. She said, "Last year, we grew our India headcount by around 20 percent his year also the HR additions should be in a similar range."

Aruna Jayanthi was also one of the three Indian leaders, who was given global roles in a restructuring exercise by Capgemini. She was responsible for improving the quality, productivity and profitability of Capgemini's outsourcing operations worldwide. The other priorities include creating greater client alignment in India that supports the group's growth agenda; drive industrialization to reduce costs and satisfy client expectations, and reinforce the talent pool that Capgemini will need to meet its leadership requirements in India and the group in the coming years.

Regarding the hiring, Jayanthi said that the company is also looking for science graduates apart from engineering graduates. The company also had a success by taking the 'off campus' route. For the Off Campus hiring, IT companies conduct walk in interviews of fresh engineers who have not got selected by any other company during on campus selection.

Capgemini, has about eight delivery centres in India and it is now looking to expand into smaller cities. With its introduction in Salem, Tamil Nadu, Capgemini made its entry towards smaller cities.
