Cabinet approves more funds for PSLV programme
New Delhi: The union cabinet Thursday gave its approval for funding 15 Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) operational flights at an estimated cost of 
15.18 billion with a foreign exchange component of 1.16 billion.
Speaking to reporters after a cabinet meeting, union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said this would enhance the reliability and capability of PSLVs.
"PSLV C14 to C28 are planned to be realized during the 11th Five Year Plan ending 2012," said the minister, adding that the nation needs to launch remote sensing, navigation and space science satellites.
The PSLV has so far completed three developmental and nine operational flights and the last 11 flights have been successful.
The cabinet also gave its nod to developing Anandpur Sahib and Talwandi Sabo as Commemorative Projects under the centenary celebrations of Shri Guru Granth Sahib. A special grant of 1.79 billion was given towards this to the Punjab government.
Talwandi Sabo and Anandpur Sahib in Punjab are important places associated with Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, and also places of pilgrimage.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) Thursday gave its approval to the Statutory Minimum Price (SMP) for sugarcane at 81.18 per quintal.
"The SMP is based on the recommendations of Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP)," the minister added.
