CBI to file chargesheet against Raja March 31
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Wednesday told the Supreme Court that it would file the main chargesheet against former telecom minister A. Raja on his alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum allotment scam on March 31. The investigating agency said the chargesheet would also cover the conspiracy angle in the scam. It told an apex court bench of Justices G.S. Singhvi and Asok Kumar Ganguly that the supplementary chargesheet against other beneficiaries of the scam would be filed in due course of time. The court has asked the central government to issue appropriate notification for setting up a special court to exclusively try cases arising out of the 2G scam by March 29. It also asked the CBI to suggest the special public prosecutor who would lead the prosecution case before the special court by then. The court said any attempt by any person or a group of people to influence the investigating agencies (CBI, Directorate of Enforcement and Income Tax) in the course of their investigation would be viewed seriously. The court said this after considering the CBI's status report on its investigation on the scam. It considered the report by Directorate of Enforcement Tuesday. The matter will come up for further hearing March 29.
