Chandigarh: Eager to cash in on the entrepreneurial spirit of Punjabi businessmen, Britain is eyeing investment from Punjab.

To boost its business relations with the business community in Punjab, the British high commission and the UK Trade and Investment are holding meets with the business community in the cities of Chandigarh and Ludhiana on Aug 29 and 30.

"The entrepreneurial characteristic of the Punjabi community is well known. In the UK we recognise it and celebrate it. Therefore it is only natural for the UK to enhance its business relations with the next generation of entrepreneurs in Punjab, across all sectors," Jane Owen, director, UK Trade and Investment in India, said here.

The official added that Indian investment in Britain was at an all time high and new entrepreneurs could cash on it.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Phdcci) are supporting Britain in this investment project.

The UK Trade and Investment team will be accompanied by representatives from four regional development agencies - Think London, One North East, British Midlands and Invest Northern Ireland.

The experts will brief potential investors about opportunities in Britain and offer assistance to companies to plan and prepare their overseas investment plans. Experts from 'UKvisas' will also be at hand to answer queries.
