KOLKATA: Bose Corp, the world's leading professional sound system company, has decided to set up a wholly-owned subsidiary to focus on software development in the country. The new subsidiary, which has recently been incorporated, will be Bose’s second arm in the country. It follows Bose Corp India, set up in 1995 to exclusively focus on selling and servicing home and professional sound systems in India. While a final decision on the location of the unit is expected shortly, the choice is likely to be restricted to either Bangalore or Hyderabad. The software arm will work in tandem with Bose’s global R&D centre based at its corporate headquarters in Framingham, Massachusetts. Incidentally, it is only the second R&D unit of the company and the first time that Bose will be venturing outside the US, 50 years since its inception back in 1964. The new company will have a completely separate team, given the distinctly different nature and demand of the job it would be engaged in. Bose is currently in the process of putting the team in place. (Source: ET)
