Paul Courtright's "Ganesa: Lord of Obstacles, Lord of Beginnings"
pg 8
Paul Courtright, a professor at Emroy University, in print "Ganesha: Lord of Obstacles, Lord of Beginnings" in 1985. The book revealed striking stories about the elephant-headed Hindu god, Ganesha. The book was distributed in India in 2001 by an Indian publisher specializing in Indology. A campaign was led against the book by Hindus in U.S. for distorting and discrediting Hinduism. All the criticism led to dissipation of the book from the Indian book stores. Courtright was also threatened to death via emails.
