Talat Mahmood was a popular playback singer and film actor in Indian film industry. He received Padma Bhushan in 1992.and was famously known as the King of ghazals. Talat acted in more than a dozen films with famous actresses like Nutan, Mala Sinha, Suraiya and others. Later he decided to give up acting to concentrate on singing. In 1941 HMV recognized his distinct quality of singing and offered him his first disc Sab din ek samaan nahin tha, Bun jaoon ga kya se kya main, Iska to kuch dhyan nahin tha.
