Bling to launch 27 new handsets, eyes 400 Crore sales

Chandigarh: As part of expanding its presence in India, Mobile handset company Bling Telecom it will invest 120 crore to scale up its distribution network, launch new handsets and set up more service centers targeting a three-fold jump in sales to 400 crore this fiscal. "We will invest 120 crore, which will essentially be spent on expanding our network, bringing new mobile handsets and opening service centres in the country," said Bling Telecom's Chairman Rajiv Khanna. The company plans to roll out 27 new models this fiscal in order to widen its range of mobile handsets. "Currently, we have 10-12 mobile models (in a price range of 1,500 to 7,000) and we intend to launch 27 more models keeping in mind customers' requirements," he said. Bling would also increase the strength of its distributors from 200 to 1200 by the end of this fiscal. It would also expand its service network from 34 franchisees to 150 franchisees by the end of 2010-11 in order to provide effective sales services to customers. Having achieved sales of 100 crore last fiscal, the company is now eyeing to touch a 400 crore mark in 2010-11. "In a very short span of time we have been able to sell 1.40 lakh mobile phones and we intend to sell one million sets this fiscal only," he said.
