Bharti posts $140 million net in first-half

NEW DELHI: Private telecom operator Bharti's net profit in the first six months of current financial year touched Rs 630 crore, beating profit of Rs 620 crore posted in the entire previous fiscal. The company clocked a total revenue of Rs 3,564 crore during April-September 2004 over Rs 2,180 crore in corresponding period of last year. In second quarter ended September 2004, Bharti reported a net profit of Rs 334 crore compared to Rs 93.39 crore last year. Commenting on the performance, group chairman and managing director Sunil Mittal said: "Bharti's strong performance both in the second quarter and first half has once again demonstrated its ability to maximise the full benefits of scale and size."
