Bangalore: Anil Gulecha, a third year student of Computer Science at JSS Academy, Bangalore has accomplished the feat of putting a whole operating system (OS) in a pen drive and enabling it to run live on any computer without having to install it on the computer's hard disk. This takes computing to a new level as now one can carry a whole operating system in the pocket.

Earlier Moinak Ghosh, an engineer with Sun Microsystems took the lead in developing BeleniX the latest version of the flagship product Solaris 10. He put it together as an abridged LiveCD version. With Gulecha’s innovation, BeleniX can now boot from a USB thumb drive. He has effectively modified the existing LiveCD program, which identifies USB drives when these are inserted.

Accolades have flown in following the feat. Sun's top management has already nominated as one of their technology ambassadors, who would talk about Sun Technologies in different colleges and is equipped by the company with tools and information to work on new technologies and applications.
