Bangalore: Synopsys, Inc., a semiconductor design software provider, today announced that the annual Synopsys Users' Group (SNUG) India would take place at the Leela Palace in Bangalore on May 24-25, 2007. Annual SNUG is a two-day conference that will feature more than 50 technical sessions. All the events will be presented by Synopsys users and experts with a special emphasis on three areas: verification and analog/mixed-signal, physical implementation and sign-off, and synthesis and test. Behrooz Abdi, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies, and Deirdre Hanford, Senior Vice President, Synopsys Global Technical Services, will addresses to an expected audience of more than 1,500 engineers. SNUG India is part of a global technical program. Synopsys that is headquartered in Mountain View, California, last year drew almost 5,000 chip and system design engineers to 10 such conferences in North America, Europe, Japan and Asia Pacific. SNUG India Sponsors include: Platinum Sponsors ARM and TSMC; Gold Sponsors Hewlett-Packard, Virage Logic, and Common Platform Technology members Chartered Semiconductor, IBM and Samsung. "Companies in India are currently adopting some of the most advanced silicon processes, both 65 and 45 nanometer," says Jaisimha Durgam, Synopsys India technical director. "This year's SNUG will give engineers a chance to discuss the challenges and successes they've experienced while employing cutting-edge design techniques for these processes. These discussions undoubtedly will include low power and manufacturing cost issues, as well as the increased use of intellectual property." "SNUG attendance continues to grow each year to record numbers," says Subhash Bal Director, Synopsys India Sales. "Last year, we had nearly 1,100 attendees and this year we expect that number to grow by at least 30 percent. India is experiencing a widening customer base with multinational semiconductor companies, startups, government projects, design service houses, IP developers and expanding university programs. These cover a wide variety of markets including consumer and computer products, as well as networking and telecom applications."
