Bangalore: Trellisys, a Bangalore based software company has developed a unique application with Harper Collins dubbed SAS Survival Guide and it has ranked among the top 20 iPhone apps in over 60 countries globally. It has also hit the No.1 Lifestyle Application in almost every geographic location.
After a series of discussions with Harper Collins, Trellisys came up with the app on the iTunes platform in March 2010. Since 2007, the company has made significant forays into the social media and mobile apps space. It launched a multiplayer word game on Facebook called Grabbler that is currently played in over 30 countries and has recorded over 4 million minutes of game play since launch
The company has taken a book by former SAS soldier and instructor, John 'Lofty' Wiseman, and converted it into an instructional and interactive e-book that is optimized for the iPhone. "This SAS Survival Guide App is quite different from other text-based e-books and tries to bundle content into a richer experience with videos, photos and micro apps in an entirely new format," claims the Trellisys team in an interview with The Economic Times.
The iPhone economy is quite attractive for developers. The revenue and sales for a top application can range anywhere between $1 and $20 million a year. Currently, Trellisys is closing 100,000 sales for the SAS Survival Guide.
