Japanese two-wheeler maker Kawasaki Heavy Industries will start sourcing a 125cc motorcycle from Bajaj Auto from the first quarter of next fiscal for selling it in the global market, a senior BAL official said told a business daily. R.L. Ravichandran, Bajaj Auto's Vice President (Business Development and Marketing), told that "Pilot production of the motorcycle will start between January- March next year. Actual production should commence within three months after that." The daily quoting the official said the motorcycle was being manufactured by Bajaj as Kawasaki does not produce two-wheelers having engine capacity below 200cc. Also, sourcing from India would work out to be a low-cost proposition for Kawasaki. The 125cc motorcycle is a joint Kawasaki-Bajaj effort with Kawasaki providing the design and Bajaj doing the planning and implementation including vendor development, production and marketing. It would be sold under the 'Kawasaki' brand name in the overseas markets, the official was quoted as saying.
