BYOD Users To Touch 350 Million By 2014

Since these mobile devices are carried by the employees wherever they go, absence of proper security software might result in the mobile device being hacked by those seeking access to an organization’s database. This will lead to the critical corporate data to leak and reach in the wrong hands. The report also sights cloud-based services as a major catalyst encouraging this trend. Storing data on the cloud and accessing it later irrespective of one’s locations is the primary characteristic of the cloud and this has what fueled the BYOD trend.

It has also been found that enterprises are now becoming aware of the vulnerabilities that this trend is exposing. With no security software installed in the employee’s phones and smart devices, the organization feels its data is insecure. Thus, it is inevitable that proper security measures be put in place as BYOD has become an essential trend for businesses and enterprises.

The report mentions that the BYOD wind will sweep the public sector also but that it might take some time.
