According to IDC report, BEA Systems has been identified as the leader in Indian application server software space by independent analyst group IDC. The IDC report reveals that BEA Systems, with a market share of 30 per cent in the Indian application server software, has beaten global players in the middleware market, during the second half of 2006. The company has been doubling its growth year-on-year with customers recognising the need to invest in service-oriented architecture (SOA). "There is tremendous opportunity and our growth reiterates it," says Shailender Kumar, Country Head, BEA Systems. IDC views the application server as a base infrastructure for a range of "higher-level" products including integration; Business Process Management; enterprise portals and Web services, are all key components of middleware as a segment. Over the last few years, the middleware market in India has grown in prominence and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) has risen to the forefront as a rallying point for deployment in the space. According to Springboard Research, India is poised to be the fastest growing SOA market in Asia and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 49 per cent from 2006-09. Key customers deploying BEA products in India include State Bank of India, ICICI Prudential, Life Insurance Corporation of India and Indian Railways, among others.
