Ashok Leyland Aug sales up by 5.56%

BANGALORE: Ashok Leyland, one of the India's second-largest truck and bus makers, said Wednesday its vehicle sales in August rose 5.56 percent from a year ago. The company said in a statement it sold 2,618 vehicles in August compared to 2,480 in the same month last year. Production in August fell 18.8 percent from a year ago to 2,211 vehicles. Its shares were flat at 100 rupees at the Bombay Stock Exchange, whose main index was up one percent.
