Amit founded Prysm raises $100 Million
Fremont: California-based Prysm, Laser Phosphor Display (LPD) manufacturer, has raised over $100 million in new funding. The current round of funding infused has brought the total financing of the company to over $135 million since its launch. The fund will be used to commence volume production of their LPD technology and form a global support team of more than 150 personnel worldwide and supported by more than 25 channel partners. The privately held company, Prism has invented a new display platform based on the Laser Phosphor Display technology that it owns entirely. A large format display platform that can be organized in any size or shape to support a wide range of complete solutions for a variety of commercial markets, LPD offers the lowest cost of ownership and meeting the highest standards of environmental impact. It has offices in New York, San Jose, London and Dubai. "Surpassing $100 million in financing is a powerful vote of confidence in Prysm's LPD technology and an indicator the company is well on the path to bringing this groundbreaking technology to markets around the world. We are now in volume production and investing in training and support for our solutions in major markets globally," said Amit Jain, Co-founder and CEO, Prysm. With over 20 years of executive management, technology and entrepreneurial experience that Jain brings to the Prysm team, he has a track record of growing successful technology-related businesses and a career that spans the data-storage, high-end optical telecommunication and low-cost datacom devices industries. Prior to founding Prysm, he was the CEO of Bigbear Network and the co-founder and CEO of Versatile Optical Networks that was acquired by Vitesse Semiconductor. At Vitesse, Jain led the Optical Systems Division as Vice President and General Manager until acquired by Avanex Corporation. Prior to this, he held several management positions in startups and established large companies including Terastor, Optex Communications and Digital Equipment. Jain holds a BS in Physics, BSEE, MSEE and MBA degrees.
