Airtel offers wireless communication solutions

NEW DELHI: Telecom major Bharti Tele-Ventures, a subsidiary of Bharti Enterprises, Tuesday announced launching BlackBerry wireless communication solutions in a joint venture with Canada's Research In Motion (RIM). "The initiative provides mobile professionals with secure and integrated wireless communication. Airtel customers can now join the more than 1.6 million active BlackBerry users worldwide," Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman and group managing director of Bharti Tele-Ventures Limited said at the launch. "BlackBerry is designed to provide mobile professionals with combined wireless email, data and phone experience," said Don Morrison, chief operating officer of RIM in a statement. BlackBerry would enable Airtel customers to manage their email on the go, place and receive both phone calls and text messages and access their calendar, address book and task list, besides providing wireless access to the Internet. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server also enables push-based access to additional corporate data and enterprise information beyond email using the BlackBerry Browser and software development tools. Airtel customers will have the choice of three handset models to avail of the BlackBerry services.
