Air-India unveils special fares for domestic sector

NEW DELHI: Flag carrier Air-India Tuesday unveiled special fares for air travel within the country that are sharply lower than the apex fares announced by domestic carriers. The new fares for Air-India flights departing between 8.00 a.m. and 8.00 p.m. will be five percent lower than the apex fares being offered by the domestic carriers like Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and Air Sahara. The fare for Air-India flights departing between 8.00 p.m. and 8.00 a.m. will be 15 percent lower than the apex fares offered by the domestic carriers, said an Air-India press statement. The Air-India fares, which came into effect from Tuesday, will not have any advance purchase conditions and the cancellation charges have been kept at 100 for night flights. The airline said the number of seats allocated for these fares is nearly 80 percent of the capacity and are not restricted as in the case of domestic carriers. Air-India operates flights to Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram on the domestic sector.
