Acer launches Iconia tablets with Honeycomb OS


Bangalore: One of the popular technology companies in India, Acer has launched two versions of its 10.1 inch Iconia tablets. The Iconia A500 features the Android Honeycomb 3.0 operating system and the Iconia W500 has Windows 7 OS in it. Both the devices sport a capacitive touchscreen display with 13.33 mm thick and a full size USB port along with a mini USB port, HDMI output, SIM Card support, Micro SD card slot. The Acer A500, like all other Honeycomb tablets is powered by dual-core NVIDIA Tegra, 2 CPU and HD-optimized graphics (from the ultra-low power NVIDIA GeForce GPU) with Flash 10.2 support. The ultra-sensitive gyro meter of the Acer ICONIA TAB A500, makes the device a gaming platform with premium HD arcade games and complex online 3D games. The tablet will have a 5MP rear camera and frontal 2 megapixel camera. A500 will be available in two different storage sizes of 16GB to 32GB. This tablet is priced at 27,990. The Iconia W500 which runs on Windows 7, is a dual screen notebook powered by an Intel Core i5 processor. The 14-inch Acer notebook will also have two touch-enabled HD LED backlit displays. This tablet comes with a 32GB storage space version. It has a portable docking station that will add to a full sized keyboard. This tablet will be priced at 32,499. With the launch of these two Iconia A500 and Iconia W500 tablets, Acer has also come up with two more devices. A 7-inch Android tablet called the 'A 100' and the Iconia Smart 'A 300' with 4.8-inch Gingerbread powered Smartphone and an 8MP camera. These tablets are priced between 29,500 to 46,900 depending on the configuration. Earlier Honeycomb based tablets in India were announced only by Samsung and Olive. But now Acer will bring the Honeycomb run devices into action with its A500.
