Chennai: California Software Company Limited (Calsoft), a Chennai-based tech firm, has partnered with a Chinese company to develop a car window visor that can also act as a small television screen. Adding value to the electronic visor or sun shield, the company has incorporated a flash player in the device. Its content can be changed in real time using the Internet, supported by a data-centre. Such units can be placed in taxis and golf carts where products and services can be displayed. While passengers of the cab can watch a film or a music video, the visor-cum-TV can also telecast advertisements. "California Software is always looking for niche markets and this (new) software has enabled us to expand and use our technology capabilities to put us on the map in software innovation," Calsoft Managing Director and CEO S. Sam Santhosh said in a statement. U-Eyes Media Technology (Shenzhen) CEO Edmund Wu said, "Realizing that our Smart Mobile TV required a company with very high software innovative capabilities and cutting edge technology, California Software was our option. "This partnership has enabled us to create a new and unique medium for entertainment," he added. Founded in 1992, Calsoft has development centres at Chennai and Bangalore in India and Pleasanton (California), Boston and Omaha in the US. U-Eyes Media Technology (Shenzhen) is a leader in the latest of wireless technology, delivering digital video and flash content displayed on an LCD screen using cellular digital network services and a web-based broadcast portal to remotely control the system. The company plans to distribute 'Smart Mobile TV' visors to cabs playing in China.
