ATI Tech launches India operations

MUMBAI: Three-dimensional graphics and digital media silicon solutions-maker ATI Technologies has launched its operations in India and appointed Advent Media-Tech as its sales representative for personal computers (PCs), notebooks and workstation products. "With the country posting PC sales of around three million units in 2003 and expecting a growth rate of over 40 per cent in 2005, India is an important market in the world," ATI Technologies (Europe) GmbH managing director and vice-president, Peter Edinger told reporters here on Thursday. ATI Technologies ( Europe ) GmbH is a subsidiary of ATI Technologies. The company has established a representative office in Mumbai and has around seven channel partners in the country, he said adding, ATI intends to "aggressively target India " and is scouting for additional channel partners. ATI would sell its series of chipsets – 9800 SE, 9600 XT, 9800 XT and 9200 SE – in the country, and would increasingly target the gaming and home entertainment sector in the country, he said. Advent Media-Tech's Suki Matharu would assume overall responsibility for business development and building ATI's presence and market share in India .
