AMD appoints Alok Ohrie as MD

Bangalore: Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has announced the appointment of Alok Ohrie as the Managing Director of AMD's India operations. Ohrie succeeds Ajay Marathe, who will return to AMD’s headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, USA. Ohrie brings with him more than 18 years of experience in the technology industry. He will report to Gustavo Arenas, corporate vice president and head of AMD’s High Growth Market Initiative. Announcing the appointment, Arenas said, “We are very pleased to welcome Ohrie to lead our India team. He is well positioned to draw on his extensive experience in the Indian technology industry to drive AMD’s further growth in the region.” “I feel fortunate to be a part of AMD at such an exciting time. The company's innovative product lineup is incredibly strong and it has the right customer-focused strategy for growth. I intend to build on the strong foundation which Marathe leaves behind, and will endeavor to steer AMD India during its next exciting phase of expansion,” comments Ohrie. Prior to joining AMD, Ohrie served as the Director, Systems and Technology Group for IBM’s India and South Asia operations, Wipro and ESPL. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Communication from National Institute of Technology Suratkal.
