Insieme, who is presently in stealth mode, was invested by networking giant, Cisco for around $100 million. This shows how serious the networking companies are about SDN, as the trend is sure to shake up the networking business in coming years.

Nicira was a small startup, centered on software defined networking (SDN) and network virtualization, which rose to sudden fame with networking corporate, VMware acquiring the company. It’s of no wonder why VMware had to pay over 25 times more than Nicira’s venture capital funds, as the company has already proved its potential by developing a virtual networking engine out of a simple open source software.
