9 Failed Enterprise Products of Microsoft

7.  Microsoft Office Live:

In another tug-of-war with Google Apps, Microsoft ventured the Office Live. This time it did not aim any particular class of users but was a free product for consumers. But Office was known to be fully functional only as an online backup system for consumers who had brought the desktop version of the Office suite. It worked something like this. You could access any of your files from anywhere but to edit or do any changes on the file it was mandatory that you opened them on your Windows PC.

Also there was Office live Small Business which catered a free website, an online calendar and online customer management app. Now, it is reinvented as Windows Live SkyDrive, for consumers and Office 365, for businesses. The products have different browser based versions of the actual office apps and hence it seems it is giving a moderately tough competition to Google Apps.
