8KMiles to give more mileage to BPOs
Bangalore: 8KMiles, a startup company has launched an online ecosystem to help SMBs [Small and Medium Businesses] tap virtual outsourcing market. Biggest problem that SMBs face nowadays are limited professional resource and infrastructure. In order to cut cost and increase effectiveness of resources, companies across IT sector feel a need to integrate SLA and Virtual Outsourcing model. 8kMiles is one such company which is based on this model and is betting on tapping the SMBs market. They provide instant on-demand access to hardware, software, tools and experts across IT sector. Companies can achieve scalability, agility and reliability with 8KVCE (8KMiles Virtual Computing Environment). "On one side there are Startups and SMBs who are looking for professionals to work on certain project which are too small to give to big companies and on the other side there are small IT companies, Project Manager, Sales and Knowledge professionals who want to work for big companies," said Padmanabhan Raghavan, Co-Founder and Chief Evangelist, 8KMiles. With the help of 8KVCE this problem can be solved. 8KMiles gives them a safe platform to manage different projects. 8kMiles plans to use internet to tap the rural market. 8KMiles can help people to work for big companies even though it is project to project basis. SMBs can save huge amount of money by hiring a virtual staff and paying them off on an hourly basis. To start a company one would not require huge office space and infrastructure as these virtual assistants will be working from home and using their own equipments. 8kMiles offers a platform for professionals from various sectors, both employer and employees, to carry out project. Knowledge services such as Software Design and Development, Graphic Design, Multimedia, Writing and Editing, Marketing and Sales, Data Processing, Virtual Office Assistants etc. can be cost-effectively and securely executed through the 8KMiles ecosystem. Headquartered in Chennai, 8KMiles staff of 20 people will face a major challenge to reach out to companies and make them believe that virtual outsourcing is a viable option for them. But Suresh Chari, Founder and CEO, 8KMiles is confident that this business model will work. "People don't have access to resources; they want to work for big companies. They don't have Capital expenditure. By using 8kMiles they can leverage their model," he said. They also face a tough competition from companies like Odesk, Elance and Guru. Chari believes that changing the mindset of people will not be a problem as freelancing and cloud computing is already present in India from quite some time. Especially with the backing of NASSCOM, 8kMiles will be able to reach to SMBs. They have already bagged contracts with 50 SMBs for project and so far 250 service providers have registered. They are in partnership with Merit Track in India and Project Management institute in America to filter out the correct contenders for the projects. They also have an agreement with Microsoft to provide software to 8KMiles customers without any charge.
