Starbucks: Selling community
A 24 ounce cup of coffee at a 7/11 for less than two bucks doesn’t make sense but still Starbucks’ was able to double its stocks compared with a 23 percent gain for the Standard and Poor’s 500. For us it might seems like a gag paying $5 for coffee but still many people pay that much. Consumers carry the Starbucks cup as badge brand because people look at you differently when you carry it along. The company works hard to make their customers feel as if they were a part of something big by making comfortable lounge areas and free Wi-Fi etc.
The customers have cultivated loyalty for the company and it has paid off the shareholders. The K-cup coffee of Starbucks has become as popular as the Keurig single serve coffee machines and the other is the instant coffee sold in supermarkets in the U.S. Starbuck’s. Due to fame in U.S. has been able to expand its business to other countries too. At the time of its struggle the customers were waiting for it to come back which did help them.
