8 Most Controversial Google Products

#7 Google’s Search Engine

The ire Google Search attracted is concerned about user’s privacy. Google tracks the search preferences of the users for targeted advertising. Microsoft, in its spoof against Google, named elegantly as ‘Scroogled’ highlighted Google’s infamous act of tracking the users. Google however trashes the controversy and says the ‘tracking of the user’ is to give better search results.

If tracking its not enough, there’s controversy over Google Search providing manipulated search results. The users generally tend to rely on the first pages of Google search, assuming that everything not listed there is either not important or merely does not exist. In some instances, if you searched for social network, Google search results will favor Google+ over Facebook or Twitter.

And then there is this infamous quote by Eric Schmidt, Google’s Executive Chairman, he said, "The goal is to enable Google users to be able to ask the question such as ‘What shall I do tomorrow?’ and ‘What job shall I take?'". Schmidt reaffirmed this during a 2010 interview with the Wall Street Journal, "I actually think most people don't want Google to answer their questions, they want Google to tell them what they should be doing next."
