Google: In 2005, Google started Google.org, the philanthropy wing of the global search giant with an initial investment of $1 billion. To support the initiative, Google had set aside three million shares during its IPO. In November 2007 Google.org declared the launch of a project called RE<C Renewable Energy Cheaper than Coal, a project aimed at producing energy from renewable sources-wind and solar.
